So who knew that I actually could get more sewing done if I just let Jacob help out more rather than trying to get him occupied with something else. Many of you may recall this picture from last May--he was mesmerized by all the gadgets found on my sewing machine.
His fascination continues! He likes to pick up the scraps and get out his scissors and cut right along with me. When I move to press a seam he's quick to jump into place at the sewing machine saying, "Me too! Me too! My turn to sew!" So yesterday that gave me an idea.....

Why couldn't he sew? I let him pick out some fabric, cut them into nice big squares and held him on my lap. I guided the fabric while he pressed down on the presser foot (conveniently placed on the table instead of the floor). It worked great! He was pretty good at slowing down, and naturally fast was no problem either. It was hard for him to be patient while I measured and cut and such, but he hung in there and we made some nice little blocks together!

Rebecca! I'm glad you finally gave in to the blog craze! No need to feel silly - It's a great way to stay connected while our families are growing up so far away from each other.
... I can't believe Aaron went to Guatemala without you! I think I would have insisted on tagging along. :) Now you can leave him alone and take the boys to California without feeling bad. haha. Of course I'm just kidding (kind of).
